Title: A Good Guy With A Gun
Post by: Septugenarian on December 15, 2013, 12:01:32 PM
Armed school officer stopped Arapahoe High School shooting.

Authorities are dramatically revising the response time of law enforcement officers to the Arapahoe High School shooting on Friday.

Originally, it was claimed by multiple outlets that responding law enforcement agencies took 14 minutes to arrive at the school, and that the shooter was not located until 30 minutes into the event. As we noted based on this information, this proves that schools need armed staffers and/or faculty on campus because it takes far too long for outside law enforcement agencies to respond to stop an active shooter.

It now appears that our original thesis was confirmed because there was an armed officer on campus who was the reason the shooter was stopped after only shooting one student

Aren't schools gun free zones? ::thinking:: I believe they are!

That means that student BROKE THE LAW! We obviously have to make more laws to keep this from happening! ::pullhair::

All we need are a handful of teachers and staff,  its not like we need police or rent a cops,   all expenses schools cannot afford.   All they have to be is,   willing to do some training,  have them carry concealed so its not known who is packing.    Probably wouldn't need more then a quarter of the people working there to be armed to send a message to the criminal class out there.

"Gun" free zones are truly one of the dumbest and most deadly of the liberal ideas out there.   At least people are starting to come around on the stupidity of it.

There's a school district somewhere in Texas that did exactly that: allow teachers who have a CCW and passed a training course to carry concealed on campus. Haven't heard much more about it.

It's the obvious answer. Schools immediately cease to become compelling targets when one of these nutjobs has reason to doubt that their plans to go out in a blaze of glory will work.

Yes, you have to look to state law, TX allows it at school board discretion.  In general I'd bet the more progressive the state the more certain the ban against it, many others may not even have anything specific on the books, or feel something in the general disallows it.  The very notion of disallowing/banning our 2A rights makes me ill and angry.
