Egads.  I really wanted to like this thing, too.

Jeepers. How does something like that make it out the door from a company otherwise known for some quality products?
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Quality control isn't what it used to be...and you cannot tell me they didn't know these issues before releasing it to distributors...I think they thought the error & retrun rate would be less than awful...they screwed up twice...strike three could be the consumer response hitting word of mouth and all the gun forums, social media and email.

A big mea culpa should be in the offing...

Yeah they've screwed the pooch with this product launch.  It's an example of a product not being technically ready, but being pushed by marketing types. The classic conflict between engineers and sales/marketing.

I think most consumers are way more tolerant of a good product with a delayed entry to the market than a flawed product with an early entry to the market. That initial perception of something being a lemon can sink a product even after the flaws have been corrected.

They should never have put it on display at the SHOT Show if it wasn't ready for actual field testing. The fact that it wasn't available for test firing at the show already got the rumor mill buzzing, and turns out the rumor mill was correct.

OK.... Got to fire the R 51 and other than the trigger being a little sensitive, I didn't experience any of the "biting" or recoil issues. Fits in a pocket easily. I personally liked the flush magazine, especially when carrying in a pocket. Don't be a sissy and snap it in.

I didn't take it apart. Overall, I still like it.

Gunblast gives it a good review too.  I've seen a lot of his videos before and trust him to do a good review.  I think the one Military Arms Channel got was just a lemon.  It had too many weird things wrong with it.

Next time I go to the range I might ask if they have one to rent, nothing like hands-on experience!   ;)
