Time will, of course, tell but if I was betting on it I would put my money on him being a Democrat. I honestly cannot remember the last time that an actual Republican/conservative/Tea Party person committed a mass killing of any kind. I don't think he was an NRA member.

The killer here is very obviously nuts and completely devoid of any spiritual/moral foundation in his life.[/.b] If you have not seen his final youtube video it is simultaneously creepy, diabolical and revealing.

I have read that he quotes a fictional character from the video game, "World of Warcraft" something about "mountains of skulls and rivers of blood."

So...could video game obsession be partially responsible for his murderous intent? Nope. It's the guns. The guns stole his soul and warped his brain so that he became a women-hating death machine.

But who does he really hate? He hates the people who he desires to be like. He openly describes his intense desire to (and that he deserves to) have lots of sex with lots of supermodels. Yet, they reject him. So...what to do? Kill everyone, of course.

He is very obviously both evil and stark raving nuts. So he must be a Republican. And a war-on-women-hating conservative. But no way could he be a liberal or a Democrat.

Never mind that he lives in CA. And his father is a Hollywood film director. And that he has spent the last two plus years in Janet Napolitano's UC system.

Well, until proven otherwise, I am betting that he is a Democrat. Bonus points if he is also an atheist.

More:  Slide show by FNC Note the media characterization of the attacks demonstrated by the captioning of one of the photos: "Santa Barbara sheriff deputies stand in the street at one of nine crime scenes after series of drive -by shootings that left at least 7 people dead in the Isla Vista section of Santa Barbara. (Reuters)"  This feeds the false narrative that the killer used a gun to kill each of his victims. It is now an established fact that the killer used a knife to fatally stab three of his six victims. The seventh dead person was the killer, himself, who committed suicide with his firearm rather than be taken alive. So, three dead from a knife and three dead from a gun. That's the truth. But since the truth doesn't fit the narrative we are instead treated to "shootings that left 7 people dead."

I was busy with my family this weekend and completely missed this story. Just went and read about it. As long as people think guns are the problem then prevention of this sort of thing can't happen. So, so sad.

I disagree.

I don't think that these things can ever be prevented. Crazy people will do crazy things. They always have and they always will. Guns are only a convenient bogeyman for the left because 1) they are largely unimaginative in these areas, 2) they are afraid of guns and all things that make loud noises and 3) they fear the liberty that gun ownership guarantees. But the fact is that crazy and/or evil people will always find a way to conduct their mayhem. Modern life virtually ensures this.

What is to stop an insane bus driver from plunging his passenger laden vehicle through a guardrail and into oncoming traffic at highway speeds? Nothing. What is to stop an air traffic controller from setting two planes on a collision course or from guiding a plane down into the ground on a foggy night? Nothing. What is to stop a college dorm resident from bludgeoning to death as many of his (or her) fellow room mates as possible before being detected and stopped? Nothing. What is to stop virtually anyone from plowing their car into a crowd of people? Nothing. What is to stop anyone from making a pressure cooker bomb and setting it off in a crowd of people? Nothing.

This type of behavior goes on with some regularity in one of the most tightly controlled democracies in the world...Israel. In that case the crazy people are muslim terrorists who are aided in their insanity by a political infrastructure that indoctrinates them, trains them and arms them. But it is murderous, crazy behavior nonetheless and it is opposed by a people and a government who have had literally decades of experience with that particular strain of craziness.

No. Murder is as old as the earth, itself, and there is no way to prevent it. Mass killings (outside of war) may be a phenomenon of modern life but there is no way to prevent them, either. I mean, no way short of turning our backs on modern life. Evil and craziness are part and parcel of a certain percentage of humans and unfortunately there is no way to predict it or do anything about it. It is going to happen just as surely as all of the other seemingly random disasters that befall us like earthquakes, floods, fires and particularly bad weather.

Liberals seek utopia. They seek it because they think that it is a possible thing. It isn't. It's why communism doesn't work. Utopia and communism don't work and can never work because fallible human beings are necessarily and hopelessly intertwined with them. In a liberal utopia there would be no killings (other than abortion, of course, which isn't really killing) or mass murders because there would be no guns. Or knives. Or explosives. Or cars. Or incorrect thoughts. Or anything else produced and used by a free people. But of course that is a fantasy because regardless of the level of control that liberal elites might dream of concocting, there would still be murder.

It can never be prevented. Libs use these situations (never letting an opportunity go to waste) to push for the disarmament of a free people. So that they can pursue their utopian fantasies. And that's their craziness.

I was thinking he could have just lowered his standards a tad and been at least a little successful.
