Stupid Mac Tricks
« on: April 23, 2011, 11:36:47 AM »
Press control+option+apple+8.

My cat discovered this.  I had to go to the Apple website and search the user forums to figure out what the hell happened and change it back.

I have no idea why this is an option.
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

What happens? I'm not gonna try it until you tell what happens, and give the remedy!
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I tried taking before and after screenshots, but the effect doesn't show up in the screenshot for some reason.

The cure is to push the same keys again.

There were three or four threads about this in the Apple user forums, and in every case they started with "My cat was lying on my keyboard..." or "My two-year-old was playing with the keyboard..."

I tried to see if I could do it on a PC at work, but I couldn't figure it out.  This may be a "feature" that is only available on Macs.  Again, I have no idea why.
