As I read more and more of the predictable calls to remove the Confederate flag from the SC capitol grounds, and elsewhere, I find myself becoming more strident in wanting to defend its presence. It has little to do with the Confederate flag itself, and more to do with opposing the incessant ratcheting incrementalism of the Left's culture war.
It will proceed to the point where flags and symbols of any white, Western country are likewise called symbols of racism, oppression, and totally inappropriate in the public sphere. Look at the UK. The flag of England (the St. George flag) is already being treated that way. The US flag isn't escaping this either, as we've already seen with schools banning it because it "offends" Mexicans
