Remember Charles Barkley's famous screed about "I am not a role model!"? I happened to agree with it then and I still agree with it now.
I never understood why people need or would want to idolize "famous" people...athletes, movie stars...that ilk...
I see no problem admiring an athletes ability and accomplishments in their profession, but to worship them as heroes in all things and ignore/justify/condone their failings???
I never got that, still don't.
So, more proof here -
http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-lamar-odom-las-vegas-brothel-20151013-story.htmlMan, what an effed up mess. There but the grace of God...
It's easy to feel sorry for folks...it's harder to offer constructive criticism, especially in latter day America with its pc/diversity/multi-culti BS!
But, lets be clear, this is no role model...unless you like role models who will turn you into a mess like this. Intentional self destruction is not to be applauded, appeased or condoned.
This is no hero.
You know who my heroes are?
My father, who never knew his real father, whose mother felt little towards her son, who grew up on tough streets and still became a man of honor and decency and raised kids the right way and never once mistreated his wife or shamed his family.
My uncle who survived WWII from France to Germany and gave countless generations peace and prosperity.
My sister for overcoming her own challenges in life the least of not is becoming an exceptional RN and a mother and raising a special needs kid.
Those are heroes.
Who are yours? I bet like me they are people like this, not anybody like Lamar Odom.
