Their leaders are evil and know full well what they are doing.  I do feel sorry for those who are just followers--their sorry lives make them easy pickings for the slime that entice them into such activity.  How sad they'll never achieve anything and they hang all their hopes on someone else they don't even realize don't really care about them.

Explain and explain that it's just wrong to insist people do things their way and it swings right over their heads in favor of safety/for the children/social compact.

It comes down to fear, I suspect.  Too many people are afraid to take full responsibility for themselves and they don't want anybody else able to do it either, for a couple reasons; it makes them "look" bad, and they realize that in order to assure them getting "theirs", everybody else must be coerced into the system.

These folks are similar to the ones who fear their own reaction to being in control of a gun -- they don't trust themselves so they don't trust anyone else either.

I think that is pretty accurate.  And the statists have been exceedingly busy in propagating any and all means to further advance this mentality.  And if our enemies are acutely aware of anyting, it is how truly difficult it is to get people to overcome their fears.  Their pacification of the herd is their number one weapon.  Until more and more in the herd refuse to be led by the nose, the condition will persist...until the final collapse erases all doubts...
