Fond memories of my youth
« on: November 26, 2019, 08:39:27 AM »
Saw this at WRSA and had to poach it!

I had one of these as a young boy...a Christmas gift one fine wintery morning.  We had six-shooter cap-guns and cowboy rigs, home-made zip-guns, sling-shots and the like...but this and my matching plastic helmet were king!

Imagine...a young neighborhood, not close to being built up yet, fields all around...ponds and reservoirs...trees everywhere (big cotton woods too!) to climb...forts built...forts destroyed in battle...new construction sites going up every season...kids armed with all manner of manufactured and homespun weapons and gear...chasing, yelling, laughing...

(sigh)

And later my little sister, the tomboy that I helped mold...running around with that toy M16 and matching helmet...a little girl never happier!

Now days the SWAT would get called in and the body-count could never be too high...no matter the circumstances.

Talk about losing our way in major way!   ::outrage::

But that pic...brought back awesome memories!
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.
