I watch youtube on my TV via Roku. Lately I have been watching backpacking videos.
I find them interesting and relaxing.
A woman engineer never backpacked overnight before so she decided to hike the Appalachian Trail. Later she did the Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail. She goes by the trail name of "Dixie" and has a youtube channel "Homemade Wanderlust."
Her first leg on the AT.
https://youtu.be/TSWTjQ0p3nULonger version of her AT hike. 1 hour 17 min.
https://youtu.be/EzXP5PjRHjMHow she affords to thru hike
https://youtu.be/lKjaGQHKi5kThis is 2 and 1/2 hours long. Hiking the Continental Divide Trail.
I watched the whole video. I found it mesmerizing.
She carries a Garmin Inreach which allows her to text and email via Iridium satellites.
At 1:19:00 her hair is standing on end. There is thunder. She is trying to get to lower elevation quick.
https://youtu.be/1ewQvcGhQAAThere is a family of 8 who homeschool and they hiked the Appalachian Trail.
They have other videos where they apparently bought a run down house and had their kids fix it up.
I have not watched that.
Ben (DAD), Kami (MOM), Dove (17), Eden (16), Seven (14), Memory (12), Filia (7), Rainier (2)
They took some side trips but hiked the whole trail. Someone called child protective services on them but they were cleared of child abuse. Baxter State Park in Maine did not allow the two year old above the tree line in the final leg so someone looked after him.
