The plate boundary goes right through the island, which explains why it is one of the most active seismic and volcanic areas on the planet.

They continue to have 3's and 4's popping off...again, another active region.

Volcano activity seems low though...for all the shaking going on these past couple weeks...lots of 6's & 7's been popping off...

Maybe what NZ needs is a good shaking up; there's talk there of punishing people who get covid on the grounds if they were doing what they were supposed to, they wouldn't have caught it.
