Hope and Change: the Conan O'Brien Edition

Yeah it is  long. Much of it funny. And appears to be going viral.   But the basic message is  " You know those dreams you had? Yeah, they are not going to happen. Find new Dreams."

All valid advice, but very depressing and a huge change from the "ever onward" meme you are used to at a commencement address. This is Dartmouth,  and so he is addressing some of the brightest kids in this generation - and he thinks the outlook is bleak for them ( I have other thoughts on Ivy's that I will share another time, but yes the kids there are typically very bright)

Of course, this reminded me of a Monty Python Clip. Adopt, adapt and improve:motto of the round table .

Monty Python - Lingerie Robbery

UPDATE: or maybe this one is more appropriate:

Monty Python - Lion Tamer

Crap. I wish I could see the videos. I tend to like most of the Monty Python skits.

The server here at work blocks almost all content. I still have 10 days before I get home and watch like a free American. ::rolllaughing::

May I ask what you do that keeps you away from home for such long stretches?
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
