"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Only in the physical sense.  She'll live on forever in the voting rolls of California.

From the "you can't make this **** up" file:   Newsome appoints Laphonza Butler to the vacant California senate seat.  She is black,  lesbian,  and runs the toxic anti life "emily list".

One little problem.   She isn't from California and lives in Maryland.

A reporter managed to screen shot her twitter account listing Maryland as home before it was deleted.

He couldn't find a liberal black lesbian that actually lives in California?

Worth watching this video.

It seems she wasn't ALL bad. She looked into CIA torture so CIA broke into secure SCIF senate computers.

There is a movie version, The Report, she is played by Annette Benning.
She released the executive summary, maybe redacted.
