The first 35 min is good. Former UK Ambassador gives some history on recent Israeli politics. In short, there is a split between what he called oriental Jews and European Jews. The EU Jews are dominant and kinda secular. The oriental group has grown in strength and wants to move more to Judaism rebuild the temple on the temple mount, which is regarded as a holy site by Muslims. He says he foresaw the recent troubles long ago especially in light of some recent actions on the temple mount.
Very interesting and concise.

Extremist Politics in Israel and Ukraine - Alastair Crooke, Alexander Mercouris and Glenn Diesen
The Duran
Three primary ethnic divisions - Ashkenazim (European, word for German in Hebrew), Sephardim (Iberian-Spain, Portugal and N.Africa), & Mizrahim (Oriental/Easterners - encompassing Jews who stayed behind after the fall of ancient Israel and settled in/carried off to areas comprising modern day Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Kurdistan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Yemen, Algeria, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia)...in Israel the shift in dominance has shifted from European to Oriental and the former are more liberal, secular like you say and their most populous city is Tel Aviv...and IMO the shift away from the European is good because their leftism is ultimately problematic for Israeli existentance.
