The city of Salinas had invested more than half a million dollars in Green Vehicles, an electric car start-up company.
All of that money is now gone, according to Green Vehicles President and Co-Founder Mike Ryan.

The start-up company set up shop in Salinas in the summer of 2009, after the city gave Ryan a $300,000 community development grant.

When the company still ran into financial trouble last year, the city of Salinas handed Ryan an additional $240,000. Green Vehicles also received $187,000 from the California Energy Commission.

Salinas Economic Development Director Jeff Weir said Green Vehicles flopped because of a lack of investors.

We've got the same thing down here with V Vehicle. The idiotic voters of Monroe, LA implemented a tax to fund the car company's move, but it never happened. Plus they still haven't gotten a tax reduction.

Idiots!  Lack of interest in vehicles that could get pancaked by a coyote and are subject to who knows what kind of environazi reg's and has a touring range shorter than a 12 year old on a 10-speed!  Money pissed away on a risky low-demand scheme, period.  Libiots are too good at wasting limited capital!

Rent seeking trash fail without continuous infusions of taxpayer money.  Who could have possibly seen this coming....outside of a Poli Sci class.

How many saved or created jobs were these "enterprises" supposed to make?

I can see it now, they couldn't find the correct matrix for transparent aluminum so they could't make the cars. ::hysterical::
