Concert was pretty entertaining, despite the downpour that comprised most of it. The beastly stage contraption they built for lighting & video was impressive. I think the poor weather and cloud base actually made their lighting more interesting.
Had to put up with the usual blather about Burma, something about Somalia and a tribute to Gabby Giffords, but how much of that matters to the majority of people...I dunno. I know it doesn't impress me, that's all that matters, right?
But I give them credit, even during the worst of the rain & wind they played on. The stage had bridges on either end that could swing out while members walked/played. The video screen could descend and they had a swing Bono played on briefly while he wore some funky laser jacket.
I guess I didn't realize the whole contraption was supposed to resemble a space ship...I guess that explains the Major Tom references.
