Naturally it didn't go the way I would have liked, but I'm not surprised at the verdict. People are extremely dissatisfied with government right now. All government. They're mad at the left, and they're mad at the right. So it shouldn't be surprising that a significant amount of "Throw the rascals out" sentiment would prevail.
You are correct of course: there needs to be a huge attitude adjustment. What the pubbies should have done was to pursue their agenda like there was no tomorrow - just like the dhimmis did in the US Congress. They didn't and now the window is closing.
