There is actually quite a bit of history to that story.

Oh, the humanity.

(You have to admit, though, that it is funny that when you do a search for "Richard Gere" the number three entry is for the link at the top of this post. I am guessing that even Monica Lewinsky wouldn't want to trade her infamy for that of Gere's)
