Trail of tears?

Not since the beginning of the "minority" bonanza have the Indians been able to cash in as well as other select groups.  They had to trudge their own way with oil, then cigarettes and liquor,  and now casinos.

Times past the poor Cherokee owned slaves then after the slaves were emancipated the Cherokee allowed the "emancipated one's" to live amongst them.

Times are getting tough and money's tight, Indians are throwing out freeloaders and they're telling the government to take a hike.

Quote

"The Cherokee Nation will not be governed by the BIA," Joe Crittenden, the tribe's acting principal chief, said in a statement responding to the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The African Americans lost their citizenship last month when the Cherokee Supreme Court voted to support the right of tribal members to change the tribe's constitution on citizenship matters.

I saw them perform that song on the Johnny Carson show once.  It was absolutely kick-ass.  I have it on a VHS tape somewhere.
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.
