Rick Perry: jobs plan

Drill everywhere  baby Drill
                                                       Rebuild the EPA

Governor Perry Appears on Kudlow and Company on Oct. 13, 2011

@2:22
We're sitting on a treasure trove of energy in this country,
there's three hundred years worth of reserves sitting underneath
the land of America and that's how we're going to get America
working again.  It's the fastest way.

As the President of the United States I don't have to ask congress,
in my first 100 days to open up all the federal lands and the waters,
to pull back the regualtions that are stifiling and killing jobs today and
to rebuild the EPA. That in a nutshell in the first one hundred days
will get over 1.2 million people headed back to work in this country.

Why can't he be that natural and clear in the debates?

The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Because he's not a good debater and that doesn't make him a poor presidential candidate, nor a probable poor president.

I'd be damn bad on a stage with a guitar -- I can't play but accordion and I sure can't sing -- but that doesn't mean I can't lead in other ways, inspiring people to follow, as I'm a pretty good teacher, of the many skills that I possess, in a less impersonal and formal area.

I know that Pan, but the debates are probably millions of people's only window to the candidates before they make a decision and vote. Obama would mop the floor with this guy and dance circles around him.

Perry is supposed to be on Fox and Friends in about 15 minutes.. I just sent them the following:

Question for Perry:
Is your jobs plan to give jobs to illegal aliens?
Just wondering if there is a parallel in how you gave them cheaper education in Texas than anyone from one of the other 49 States.

Is your jobs plan for U.S. Citizens?
----------------------------------------------

I figure they'll ignore that one.

I'm actually shocked at how quickly "That's how we did it in Texas" has worn thin. Texas has a fairly wondrous success story to tell in an otherwise bleak national economic picture, and this guy blew whatever capital and leverage that gave him almost the moment he entered the race.

That was magnified for me when I heard his pathetic wife out there trying to criticize those who've actually come up with a specific economic plan by saying Perry doesn't need a "999" or a "59 point plan", he just needs one plan - just do what he did in Texas.

Blech. ::puke::

He just isn't translating well to the electorate and that is a deathknell for any politician seeking higher office.

Platitudes & slogans cannot save a person from their own failings.  He's been in Texas politics quite a while so his demeanor and style is probably not noteworthy there...but on a larger stage running for POTUS...failings get magnified, perhaps too much in some instances...but if overcoming adversity at this stage is blown, you have no chance to move on.

I have real problems with Perry.  But I'd vote for him over Obama in a second.

I can not say the same for Romney.  Romney, Paul, and that other creepy Utah guy are the only ones I'd go 3rd party with.

Doing what he did in Texas is the formula, coupled with his rebuild the (isn't it necessary to tear a thing down in order to rebuild it) EPA and drill now drill everywhere will work BUT HE'S GOT TO BE ABLE TO 'SPLAIN IT TO THE PEOPLE.  Watch the debate and you ask 'how the hell did this guy do anything?'

He can do an interview
He can do a speech
He can do a Tea Party rally
He can do congress

He can't do a debate worth a damn.

And I have no patience for that one bit.  Just like Obama not being able to do anything without the TOTUS (and he's still terrible at that if you ask me!). My gosh you want to lead the free world then learn the heck how to debate and stop being an embarrassment.

Too bad but in this day and age you have to be good on camera in every situation. It's become a requirement ...because the stupid people get to vote. ..and their attention span is nil.  So you better look good and sound good.

Perry said that he doesn't do debates good,

and he can't find anyone to argue with him over that.   ;)

Actually, he is a good leader, and has good policy decisions over most of the important issues that we are concerned with right now, but not all of 'em.

Sarah is still my favorite, but after her going on national TV and singing "Please release me, let me go"....I guess I will settle next for Cain; not to be confused with Abel's brother.

Please, Please, Please, not Romney...... he will usher in the final blow to the party. Has anyone ever heard of Rubio?

Yeah, I read that his people were Romney's people and they are the one's who pushed up the Florida primary
in order to help Romney.

Perry Talks Up Energy & Jobs Plan in Pittsburg (Or Even Pittsburgh)
—Ace

An "all of the above" energy plan, he says, can add 1.2 million jobs to the economy.

Honestly, I think this is about right. I'm a tangible guy. When Herman Cain talks up the supposed employment boom that would flow simply from shifting some taxation from income to consumption, I scratch my head. It's not tangible to me. Why would taking $2.3 trillion dollars from citizens, simply from a different mix of taxable events, spur the economy?

Maybe it would. To me it's arranging deck chairs on a ship, not turning the ship around.

Energy production is, however, tangible. It's a valuable commodity. People will pay for it. And with more in-country energy production, that's more jobs and more tax revenue and lower energy prices besides, as OPEC's ability to set prices is diminished.

Why can't we have a cannidate that says:

9-9-9
Open 100% of federal lands and all other lands with drilling restrictions.
Start building 30 new oil refineries to be completed in two years.. another 30 to be completed in four years.
etc
etc

Why is it a one idea thing?
Why can't a candidate say.. hey.. spectacular idea.. 999... and drilling/refineries also.. how about getting rid of the Fed too... and this.. and that....

Why does it feel like if you pick any candidate.. the only thing (at best) is one thing will be fixed and you have to wait 300 lifetimes to actually get anything substantive done?

Business is sitting on a ton of cash. No one wants to invest because of the uncertainity of an obama who wants to tax anything. A simplified tax plan creates stability. Stability increases confidence....The country will grow. Its not the amount of money collected, imo. It's the threat more will be taxed if you decide to invest.

Simplify taxation, remove burdomsome regs, allow America to do what we do best.

I agree.

But there seems to be this desire to hit upon the "magic" idea that will win the election.  Which misses the point.  There should be a symphony of ideas that moves this country.

Instead of floating gimmicks why don't we just start getting rid of stuff?

First, cut the Dept of Ed.  Just get rid of it completely.  According to wikipedia they have 5000 employees.  They can either apply for other openings in the fed or move back from whence they came and let their states deal with them. Next year cut something else.

Second, sell off their office buildings.
