HOUSTON -- She can talk, even saying short sentences. With some help, she can walk. She also knows that she was shot.

But for doctors, some of the greatest moments in treating Rep. Gabrielle Giffords occur when her true personality shines through and she shares big grins and excitement over milestones in her recovery from a devastating gunshot wound to the head.

"That's Gabby. It's a constant, wonderful thing," said Dr. Dong Kim, a neuroscientist.

I sympathize with her and I hope that she is able to fully recover. Her progress to date has been remarkable but I say that with the understanding that it is remarkable that she even survived the attempt on her life. So...do I think she will fully recover? I would say that the odds are heavily stacked against her and that there is almost no chance that she will ever have what is considered to be a normal life. I honestly do not see how she can ever return to the ridiculous pace of life that is demanded of a member of Congress.

I hope I'm wrong.
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

Yeah, hope recovery continues, but I fear another Brady puppet coming our way.  Hope I am wrong, but, there it is.

You know the dems are scripting how to best use her and capitalize on her injury politically. It would be better for america if she gets better, but loses her will or ability for politics. Hell, maybe that bullet jarred some sense into her and she'll turn conservative.

Where's that wincing smiley?
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

It will be six months or more before an accurate assessment can be made on recovery.  The physical will remain traumatized for a while.

The political aspect depends more on hubby; whether he is a Dhimi sock puppet or not.

Yeah, well, even if he isn't, and she insists this is what she wants, or thinks this what she wants, how could he stand in her way?

Regardless, IDP is right, the Left will make her a litmus test for others, they won't care one damn about her wishes if they are contrary to their meme!

Yeah, she did switch from Pubbie to Dhimi in order to win.
I will give her the benefit of integrity until I see otherwise.

Any discussion of her ability to fully carry out her duties as a member of the house will be met with accusations of insensitivity . Even if she must be propped up in her seat in The House and her mind might wander the Dems will continue to run her as a candidate for twenty more years just to hold that seat .

Yip, that's my concern. Even if she's watching pretty butterflies flit around the House chamber and sipping protein paste out of a straw, they'll try to find a way to prop her in her chair and show her which button to push when it comes time to vote. As was alluded to earlier - if she is not competent to serve, then how much or how little the Dems use her will depend on the willingness of her husband to let them use her.

Now, this is one scenario where I could see the hubby say "screw this noise"!
