This is why I have five tape measures!

  But where are they is the question.   Yesterday a searched the first floor of the house and then retraced my steps looking for a pair of reading glasses that were in my shirt pocket.

I misplaced my wood splitting wedges recently. I spent a half hour looking and then bought more. Today I walked right up to them!

I used to have a rule that any family member who "borrowed" a tool (screwdriver, hammer, pliers, etc) HAD to return it to my workshop.

But my sweet wife never would & 1/2 of any routine job meant searching for what she misplaced . . .

 . . . so I bought her a few tools of her own

(but she's always losing them & . . . borrows mine!)  ::)

Yeah...I call that one the bleeping mental block syndrome...you look for something so hard, have it fixed in your mind exactly what it looks like...and you are blind to it...I've learned after a few minutes to give it up and do something else...an over-night works best...and then not even looking for it you see it.

But it's irritating as all heck when it strikes!

OK, apart form the losing part...as a kid me and my brother drove my father nuts...

My brother would use a hammer, take it off it's place on the hook...and leave it on the garage floor...I would then use the hammer and do as I was told time and time again...put it where I found it...on the garage floor...

Father comes home...see's hammer...has to know it's coming...that's where I found it.   ::hysterical::

On balance I often "find" things I didn't know I had lost - while searching for things I cannot find.

I do not loose anything...some things are just temporarily in a place they don't belong that I haven't located yet...

I've lost tools and need them so I buy another. When I put it away I find that the missing tool is there.

Which comment?  Did he delete it or change it?
