The Nebraska Republican Primary

Obviously, the interest here isn't in the presidential candidate but rather in the Senate candidates.

The three to watch are:

Bruning (the establishment candidate)

Fischer (endorsed by Palin)

Stenberg

The official results page is here and the results have already started to come in.

The winner faces Bob Kerrey in November.

I was reading the Cliff Notes version of the candidate analysis over at HotAir and they said that Stenberg and Bruning had been beating the crap out of each other with negative ads.

Fischer was supposed to benefit from that fighting but so far it seems that Fischer and Stenberg are splitting the Tea Party vote to Bruning's advantage.

Bruning 40.75%
Fischer 32.5%
Stenberg 22.6%

with 13.5% reporting

I'm not going to list Stenberg after this post. His numbers are pretty consistent at this point.

Fischer leads with 5435 votes. Unless something drastically changes here...

AoS is reporting 78% reporting with Fischer commanding a 5900 vote lead. Not sure where they are getting their numbers.

A Palin endorsed, Tea Party and non-establishment candidate.

The Democrats are running a corpse who closely resembles Bob Kerrey. Should be a virtual walk.

Here is the enthusiasm gap:

90% reporting

Republican senate primary votes cast: 172,838
Democrat senate primary votes cast:  73,573

Republican president primary votes cast: 161,146
Democrat president primary votes cast: 57,148
Libertarian president primary votes cast: 232 (Gary Johnson kicked ass with 93 votes in case you were wondering)

Not that this means anything, really. McLoser won Nebraska very comfortably in 2008.
