I challenge posters to name the President, other than President Lincoln, has faced the same or greater number of serious problems, in the USA and/or in the rest of the World, in his first 3 years of office as President Obama.
financial meltdown threatening another depression, nationally and internationally
two unfunded wars
threatened collapse of auto industry and related supply companies
violent and peaceful political change in the Arab world
earthquake damages throughout the world
nuclear issues in japan and political and other "fallout" domestically
threatened and actual violent action by a nuclear North Korea
Nuclear Pakistan and India with tensions heightening
world wide terrorism corrupting image of one the world's largest religions
domestic terrorism by rouge right wing individuals/groups
did I leave anything out?
Please be specific with your answers and list the problems faced by the President you select in his first 3 years of office.Still from Trombone Player 1:
ok, xxxxxxx, in the expectation that you couldn't or wouldn't respond to the challenge, I guess you could call my challenge a "rhetorical question". Honestly, I was hoping you would be man enough to admit that other than President Lincoln, no other President has been as challenged with problems than President Obama. IMHO, of course.
Hopefully other posters will not take the "easy" way out.

I think Jefferson had a lot of the same problems:
o War with the Barbary Pirates (which we lost, by the way).
o Early rebellions in Latin America. Mexico was first in 1810, but the spirit of Nationalism was rising in the early 1800s. Many more during the Presidencies of Madison and Monroe.
o Large expenditure for land purchase (the Louisiana Purchase).
o Country was still rather new and there were "growing pains".
His economy was still agrarian and hence some of the problems that can trace back to industrialization weren't in place yet.
'xxxxx' complains about lack of leadership. Wonder how well any of his picks would have done. McCain would have been Hoover II and we would have dropped off the cliff; if you analyze them, Hoover's policies were what created the Great Depression from a stock market blip. McCain had the same point of view as Hoover. How about Half-Governor Palin? God is My Copilot Huckabee? No Government Paul? No, I don't see any of them as an alternative. This is why I just read their posts and marvel how MORONs think.
