Is Your Computer Affected?
« on: July 05, 2012, 08:15:50 AM »
So there is this piece of malware on a bunch of computers all over the world and its clock is set to go off on July 9. When it does the user loses the ability to connect to the internet.

So, what to do? Visit a certain web page and you find out. I did and I wasn't affected.

FNC story on the issue.

Site that explains this issue.

This page explains how the malware is detected.

Or just cut to the chase...this page checks your computer. Nothing to download...you just go there.

Damn, I hate people who create crap like this.
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

Just go to the FBI website and they will fix it.
There's just something wrong about that phrase.

Yeah I bet they'll fix it but good.  They probably wrote the malware too.

I've been evangelizing for what seems forever to keep your data - your stuff - separate from your operating system. Keep a "set-up sheet" detailing the settings for email, router, and ISP in that separate data location. Then you don't have to be afraid of resetting your computer.

With hard drives at all time low prices there isn't much excuse.

Even if this were true I'll be damned if I would ever let the government touch my machine or especially my data.
