What do we know for sure?

1-The Biden-Harris regime has destroyed private jobs and added more to bloated government payrolls

2-The disastrous Biden-Harris regime gave us rampant inflation via their nefariously named IRA bill and insane out-of-control spending and anti-America-First economic and trade policies and overregulation especially in the energy sector...and elevated prices remain the norm

3-The BLS lies, all the time.  They oversell with bogus good numbers that always get revised down the next month then rinse/repeat...and the undersell with bogus bad news that get revised worse the next month then rinse/repeat...

4-How can new claims be down and continuing claims increase?  If you understate new claims...eventually they feed into the continuing, yes?

The lesson is for the Biden-Harris regime the good numbers are not anywhere near that good and the bad numbers are a lot worse than their letting on.

But watch, as soon as Trump is sworn in...the numbers will get caught up...so all the blame for Biden-Harris sins are dumped on Trump.

Yes, number of claims, week over week change...which for MN looks about 1,800?  So, for a full month they could be adding over 7K to continuing claims each month.  And yeah, they're the highest on the list among larger states, so by population it indicates things continue to deteriorate...and if I had to guess it is hitting sectors employing your average Joe's & Jill's...

I've been warning about this...not that many have listened...

...and being a "per household" metric...some (like me with no debt) means there are a lot out there with far more than $10k of debt!!!

Now, an improving economy, a sane energy policy, a sane trade policy and intelligent tax and regulatory relief policies coupled with other happy circumstances due in 6 weeks will help wind some of that down...it's going to take time and more importantly discipline by consumers...but seeing credit card debt ramp up I think a lot of discipline is shot...

Interesting, only about 20% is held by other countries...and the CHi-Com's with only 2% (thanks to a slow unwinding of holdings) can hardly cause a stink if they want to dump their remaining holdings...so that danger has passed.

The real danger remains and is totally internal - cutting spending & paying this mess down.  DOGE will no doubt help in this regard...the hard part is getting those feckless congresscritters to do what is right and imperative!

It will be a lot like the past couple years...steadily increasing home values, few new homes built...for sale inventory driven mostly by whatever existing homes come up for sale...with those that have the resources and ability to include escalators in bids to get the property...the losers having to settle (and still fight!) for less or are stuck where they are...

Until things are straightened out at all levels (reduced government spending, lowering national debt, tax cuts extended, pro-growth policies etc boosting the overall economy and a natural improvement [reduction] in lending rates and resurgent new building) it is going to be hard to improve things.  Another reason why Team Trump needs to hit the ground sprinting and supported by Congress and We the People!
