I don't know why this didn't occur to me. It's completely obvious.
Republicans in general and conservatives in particular are the new Jews. Ironic, too, when you think of how the left generally hates all things Israeli and any non-secular Jew and conservatives have always been in Israel's corner.
Christians, of course, have been a target for the left for decades but this visceral and open hatred of Republicans/conservatives is different. Now that GWB is fading as a boogeyman the left is transferring that particular vein of hatred to us. Makes perfect sense. We will see this ramp up in a few weeks as taxes go up for everyone and we get blamed for it. And we will get blamed for anything and everything that is an unpleasant consequence of left wing policies.
There must be a
solution to this Republican problem...hmm, I wonder what it could be?
Should be interesting to see what happens when they try and round us up, though. Somehow I don't think it will go smoothly.
I wonder how much the media and the liberal hatred of Republicans plays into the current Republican angst. It’s almost as if Republicans are the new Jews of yesteryear where any vile dirty thing can be said about them with little blowback and less truth. The media blames Republicans for every ill that comes down the pike. A storm in the Northeast? Damn Republicans caused it. You aren’t making the money you once did? A Republican did that to you. A violent young man kills 27? That Republican sitting next to you is somehow to blame. That’s what the media wants people to believe and because people are eager for a scapegoat, many listen without critical thought.
