Local Government: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
« on: January 23, 2013, 07:18:59 PM »
One of my brothers sent me this link. It's a u-toob video of a local city council meeting where they were inviting citizen input on allowing the carry of firearms in local parks. It has a surprising twist...

Part way through that I was hoping that the "twist" would be some nut-job bursting in with a gun and being put down by that young man with heat.

Nice.

This is what needs to happen across the US in local governing bodies.

In hundreds of jurisdictions across the country, that vote would've gone the other way, the law and constitution be damned.

It strikes me to mention that even in light of the favorable outcome, how many wasted taxpayer dollars does that 9:03 chunk of time represent? It accomplished nothing other than providing a moment of YouTube schadenfreude for pro-2A folks like us. I s'pose for that, I thank the taxpayers of Oak Harbor.

Oh, and Vote Scott Dudley for Mayor.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Do these people ever listen to themselves?  ::outrage::

Crap?!?!? Isn't that how we gun owners are? I mean, Hollywood, and certainly a cokehead like Goldthwait, can't be wrong...right?
