Sponges on the Dole in Britian

They say they feel trapped - and they are. I am sure they have the same sort of benefit cliffs we have here, where you need a HUGE jump of over 10K to make earning that next dollar worthwhile.

But here is the punchline

Quote
The best way to bring down welfare costs is to get people into work. That’s why we want a Compulsory Jobs Guarantee.
Under Labour, anyone out of work for more than two years, or just 12 months if they are under 25, would be offered a real job — one they would be required to take.

When your "employer" forces you to take a job b and makes sure you have the basic necessities  for survival ( which don't include the TV or tobacco) , but no more than that, its called SLAVERY.  What? You don't want to do that job. Its off to debtors prison for you.  It good to see the progressives are making so much progress toward repetaing the dark ages.

F'n barbarians.

Those two said that they don't feel bad because their parents have paid a lot of taxes over the years.  Their parents, they say, would rather their children get a free ride rather than have it go to someone else.   ::speechless::  I was not aware that anyone got to choose precisely where their tax dollars be spent, or that they could pass credit for those payments on to the next generation.  It would be interesting to see how that math adds up!

What is lacking in some people, that they can not see where their ideas lead?  Who is their daughter going to use as an excuse?  She won't be able to say she feels entitled to what her parents paid.

This is what's wrong with Europe.  Then 'we' want to base our lives upon it?

Reminds me of when society thought machines would replace all labourers.  They said that all 'unqualified' individuals would receive enough to survive and not works while only an educated elite would work.  The machines would provide the difference.  Disgusting.  As much as globalisation.

Where is the personal responibility?  where is the ambition?  The reason to better oneself?  The contribution to the greater society?

Its like the 'obesity crisis'.  Obama's medicare covers treatments and thus makes us pay for fattys treatments.  Its illegal in Japan to be 'fat', you know that?  They fine you.  If there was one thing about our society I'd want changed its the lack of personal responibility.

"If there was one thing about our society I'd want changed its the lack of personal responibility."

Probably the single-most important aspect of our society that needs changing.

but first you'd have to try to get these people to understand what personal responsibility is!

It's a concept that's not in their world...it doesn't exist for them

Yeah, and that's what needs changing.

It will come when they get a nice bitch-slap from Reality in the form of this eternal dichotomy: Work, or starve to death.

"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No." They had a choice, all of them. They could have followed in the footsteps of good men like my father or President Truman. Decent men who believed in a day's work for a day's pay. Instead they followed the droppings of lechers and communists and didn't realize that the trail led over a precipice until it was too late. Don't tell me they didn't have a choice. Now the whole world stands on the brink, staring down into bloody Hell, all those liberals and intellectuals and smooth-talkers... and all of a sudden nobody can think of anything to say."

[gasp]  That's not very socialistic of you!  Not unless, of course, its government engineered.

also, whoa, that's poignant.

Yeah, forced collectivization, never ends well but that's where Chairman Obamakov wants to lead us to...

"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No." They had a choice, all of them."

Yup.  Except I will say more than just "no".   ;)
