Between his stance on guns and immigration.......just what makes him a rising star?
He's a Latino Republican who talks a good game on the American Dream cuz he came from humble beginnings in the proud hardworking Latino immigrant tradition = Star.
Nobody ever celebrates the 16th, 17th, and 18th century immigrants who came here when there was nothing but wilderness. If not for them, there would be no America for all the later migrant waves to come to. Instead we're treated to unending platitudes about how preferred flavors of johnny-come-lately "are what make America strong". No, America was already strong. That's why they're coming here, to feed off a strong and wealthy civilization. They can KMA.
I sure don't seek to minimize the hard work and contributions of folks like Rubio's father - if the accounts we've been fed are accurate. What I am sick to death of is this assumption that says minority + poor + bootstraps = inherent moral authority.
Rubio's family story may be inspiring. But that doesn't mean that all of a sudden, he's the GOP moral compass on amnesty. f**k that sh*t.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
