Cotton is King.

Looks loke our farmers will be shifting to cotton and out of some food crops. Look for prices to go straight up. Rice will be getting a lit more expensive along with anything made out of corn and wheat.

“There’s a lot more money to be made in cotton right now,” said Ramon Vela, a farmer here in the Texas Panhandle, as he stood in a field where he grew wheat last year, its stubble now plowed under to make way for cotton. Around the first week of May, Mr. Vela, 37, will plant 1,100 acres of cotton, up from 210 acres a year ago. “The prices are the big thing,” he said. “That’s the driving force.”

We will have to see what other growers in other areas are doing, but depending on the mix, something could be jumping up in price.

Yes, whatever gets "shorted" in the mix at the aggregate level is going to see the price increase just from the reduced supply, throw in demand...it could get significant as the latter increases.

I read a prediction a month or so ago which said that anything ( especially clothing ) made from cotton will increase substantially in price although availability will remain the same or also increase . That's a rather crazy deviation from the law of supply and demand .

They hadn't penciled in Idiot King radically raising the cost of transportation and all petroleum related aspects of production.
