I'm just wondering how long they will let that rabbit on side of the nest to age before eating it.

I didn't even notice that.  Is it the gray thing off to the left?  I'll bet they're saving it for the chicks.

Here are a couple more screenshots.  I missed a couple of great shots, with the chick's head visible.  I'm not a good photographer.

Edit:  This beats the hell out of network TV.

I minimized the screen so I can watch and read at the same time. This is too cool.

My kids have been watching this and it's funny to see the excitement build when the birds stand or move, then they take about 10 seconds to get bored again, then the bird moves and the excitement ramps up...
I don't know which is cooler, seeing the Eagles do their thing or watching my kids do theirs!

Here'a a couple more screengrabs - blurry because the subjects were moving, but still kinda cool.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

The live video feed is down for the time being, but here is a highlights video of the first hatching.  I saw the chick at 6:10 am, with the camera switching back and forth from night to daylight mode.

Yep, she's tearing up the dead rabbit and feeding it to the chick.

The other eagle arrived at the nest and then went to a nearby branch.  The camera panned over to it.

Yes, I'm still watching this.

The second chick has hatched, but I keep missing getting a screenshot.

Here is the parent tearing off chunks of the rabbit carcass, and feeding the chicks.  The first one is already twice the size of the second one!

Quite fascinating.

It's absolutely addictive.  I've had it running in a separate window since Friday night.  I just linked it at Belmont Club.
