 "If It Saves One Life..."
On May 30th an ambulance http://www.wusa9.com/rss/article/261348/187/Ambulance-Shuts-Down-On-Way-To-Hospital, in the middle of the emergency transport to the hospital of a suspect who had been shot by police. The ambulance, operated by the Washington, DC Fire Department (Medic 19) was powered by a diesel engine equipped with an EPA mandated device which shuts the engine off when for any reason exhaust emissions fail to comply with government standards. The patient was pronounced dead at the hospital when he arrived there after being transferred to another ambulance. Asphyxiation has been ruled out as the cause of the patient's death.

DC Deputy Fire Chief John Donnelly says his department's challenge is to work within the federal agencies restrictions.

We should all feel relieved and safer as a result of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Would we even know about this if the person being transported was just some Joe Blow?  Why is the fact that this person was identified as a "suspect shot by police" merit mention?  If it was Joe Blow would they say "a vicitim whose name is not being released by police" be the tag he'd get?

And yeah, what are people to do now?  Follow the ambulance?  Drive their own to the ER?

This has mega-lawsuit written all over it.

This apply to regular gas powered vehicles?

I gotta look into this locally!
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

The lunacy of government has no bounds, until we forcibly give it some.  You would think even idiotic EPA bureaucrats would make an exception for, you know, emergency vehicles. But I guess an exception like that would be tantamount to admitting the environmental mandates are a problem, and all must be sacrificed in service to The Narrative.

This is like the Navy being forced to buy some stupid-ass biofuel at like $23 per gallon, when their normal fuel was $3 to $4 per gallon.
