Somebody needs to have this idiot read everything in THIS! link!

There is no getting along with evil.  Someone in this position should understand that, but apparently doesn't seem to want to.

Idiot!

That respect thing has worked pretty well for the Muzzies the past couple thousand years.

Sure has...

They've been slaughtering Christians by the bushel, enslaving, raping, mutliating...and they get to be treated with respect.

 ::thinking::

Hey, you think if we started slaughtering libiots they would be told to finally respect us?   ::whatgives::

I don't have a problem with this. I figure he's a religious figure and from I've read he's totally into the poor and down-trodden and being their voice.  So this doesn't surprise me nor bother me. It would seem kind of weird to have a religious leader (legitimate one anyway) say yep, if someone's being mean to you take up arms.  Of course, he going to say love and respect each other.

What bothers me is hearing regular people say we need to foster good relations, respect, etc  as if events in history haven't occurred.

No doubt that is all true LV, but in this case I would have preferred he said nothing than to give these cultists the slightest air of legitimacy (And true enough I would have found fault with that as well).  That latter part held a cloud over the Church in the aftermath of WWII, many still argue over the Church's relationship wit Fascism.  What cannot be disputed is that the Church washed its hands and tried to be neutral, no doubt remembering the 7,000 clerics slaughtered by Franco in the Red Terror.  They accepted Mussolini's Lateran Treaty which one can legitimately argue gave Fascism the imprimatur of Church approval.  Monsignor Tiso in Slovakia embraced Fascism and the anti-Jewish policies of Germany, and this pattern repeated in other nations.  Maybe I am a harsher critic of Catholic leadership than most, but IMO this statement by Francis gives the same imprimatur of legitimacy to Islam.  Somehow I don't see the same courtesy being granted Satan and his minions...what makes Muslims so different?
