That's awesome.
I love hummingbirds. Have a feeder on the porch and it's fun watching them fight over one spot.
There's 4 ports but whichever one is occupied is the one the other wants.

To me, they are one more example of God's awesomeness

Yes, I have noticed they are very territorial.

And awesome.

I'd swear I've already told my hummingbird-attacking-my-friend's-Hawaiian-shorts-while-he-stood-at-the-edge-of-a-cliff story, probably at IAF.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Newp.  At least, I don't remember it, and I suspect I would have.

Do tell.

Clearly we need another webcam.
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

OK, a boring BAS Hummingbird story. Stop me if you have heard this one before . . .

There was a Hummer trapped in my garage. I could not guide the lil guy out and I tried. Finally, he/she collapsed from sheer exhaustion and summer heat. I picked it up, poured some Hummer nectar in my hand, shoved its little beak into it and watched as it slowly came back to full power as it sipped and sipped. I opened my hand after a while and it buzzed off, never to be seen again.

You know, they really are an ungrateful species . . .
The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living

Heh.

That's not so boring.  I've rescued other birds before, but not a hummer.

The little buggers at the lake buzz by me sometimes while I'm relaxing with a stogie and a beer, sometimes they just hover inches in front of my face a couple seconds and dart off.  Their wings beat so dang fast, it's actually kind of loud when you're that close to 'em.  But we have flowers galore everywhere up there and many set out feeders, so they are around a lot.
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

Those "babies" are bigger than the Mama!  Time to kick them out of the nest perhaps?
