The tips including asking your family and guests coming over for the holiday to bring the information they'd need to sign up for Obamacare, because it's absolutely not awkward at all to tell someone you'd like him to bring wine and oh, his social security number and annual salary, too. You're advised to bring up Obamacare during "family time … downtime after meals or between holiday activities." Perfect: When your family is curled up in chairs in a turkey/stuffing/pumpkin pie-induced stupor, you can cut off the idle reminisces about bygone days and football and kids saying the cutest things, and launch that super festive health-care conversation that's sure to have everyone bursting into a rollicking round of kumbaya, despite that pesky little fact that poll after poll shows the country is sharply divided on this issue.

Try it at my  house and I will hold your face in the snow till you pass out. Maybe longer.

This is rally the troops rhetoric that will have no impact whatsoever. They're trying to a) create the impression that there is an army of proactive supporters, and b) get their few die-hard supporters to keep the faith by suggesting there is hope to change minds. They don't believe any minds will change on Thanksgiving Day. And they don't believe more than a handful of supporters will actually dare support Obamacare with doubting relatives over Thanksgiving dinner. There will be SOMEONE at EVERY table, who will be able to easily refute any talking points from pantywaist liberals.*

Obamacare is now known and seen for what it is by too many people. They can't put it back in the box. All they can hope for now is to run out the clock on repeal, and creating as much misery as possible is key to that hope.

It's the classic definition of evangelizing.  This really is an alternate religion to these people.

No doubt.

Hot air had more on it.. and this wonderful screenshot..

Yep, after you have been duped by every lie Obama told, poeple look to you as the "voice of reason"

One of the tips was:
Quote
Offer to walk them through it: “Would you like to take some time with me to sign up right now?”

I like this response

Quote
Here’s a sample response you might use. “That would be great. Except that I’m going to be washing dishes and cleaning up for a bit. How about you go into the guest room and use the computer in there to sign me up. As soon as you’re done, you can have some pie.”

And Ace of Spades offers many more wonderful responses.

1. Hey remember when you said that Obamacare was going to work great, and then, when people asked you how it actually worked, you sort of implied they were stupid for not knowing, and yet you never provided any evidence that you had any idea of how it was supposed to work yourself? Yeah, you were wrong to do that.

2. Remember when you called me crazy for saying Obama wanted to "spread the wealth around," based on not a scrap of evidence except for Obama himself saying he wanted to spread the wealth around? Yeah, there's a NYT article that says that Obamacare is fundamentally a redistributive program -- which means it "spreads the wealth around." Yeah you were wrong on that, too.

3. Remember when you said that it was only "REPUBLICAN LIES!!111!!" that Obama's "if you like your plan, you can keep your plan" promise was itself a lie? I hate to keep coming back to this point, but you were way wrong on that one too.

4. Remember the "if you like your doctor" pledge? Yeah I feel like a broken record here, but you were wrong.

5. Remember when you gleefully, giddily declared the end of the Republican Party and a new era of Proud Progressive dominance? Yeah, the current political Big Story is whether or not Obamacare will wind up discrediting progressivism for just an election cycle or two, or as much as a generation. It looks like you were wrong about that.

6. Remember when you were so confident, arrogant, snotty, sneering, and dismissive about legitimate and informed concerns about Obamacare? You were wrong. And you weren't just wrong on the facts, but you were wrong on a human level. You very nearly screamed your ignorant opinions and shouted down dissent. You sneered at people as ignorant who actually knew more than you did, and you indulged in entirely-unwarranted moral preening about your alleged concern for the poor. Despite the fact that you never do anything to actually aid the poor. Apparently shouting at relatives is your idea of "charity."

Yeah you were wrong. You are wrong.

I know you won't apologize, but at least keep your stupid mouth shut this year and let us all digest in peace.

Someone tried it... Is it real? Seems like the reaction is real, whether or not the lady's intentions were genuine...

This reveals another aspect of the liberal personality: their insufferable conviction that they are the very embodiment of reason and intellect.

You know, those goofy "folks" at the dinner table look to you as the voice of reason on the subject....so how 'bout you just walk their dumb asses through it? These are simple flyover folk, they probably drive domestic cars, so they could use a bit of handholding. You'll get to dazzle these provincial proles with your superior liberal intellect and your cultivated, urbane sensibility. This will probably be good for months of mental-masturbation material, as you fondly reflect back on the moment you opened up a can of reasonableness on those rube relatives of yours.

Thanksgiving is not about healthcare or obama or politics.

Get over yourself you friggin poser.

Fortunately, my friends and my family are on the same page about politics, so no fighting .... over that anyway.

This afternoon we went to a friends' belated Thanksgiving feast and one of the young men brought his lib girlfriend.  I was waiting for an opportunity to begin a "show me yours, I'll show you mine" gun display (some of us carry regularly), but it didn't happen 'til after she left.  Ratsssss!

If the young man in question is not himself a liberal, I hope someone will try to talk some sense into him. He's setting himself up for long, drawn out misery. And no, nothing's that good.

Idunno. I was pretty non-ideological when I got married, but my wife was a liberal Democrat - her father was a big-wig in the IEBW.

I got conservative over time, and she was still liberal for a few years after. It took time and patience, but she is a good conservative woman, through and through. And neither of us are stagnant. My own ideas of what it means to be conservative have evolved a great deal.

I don't make light of your generalization - it's good wisdom. But there are exceptions. Young people are generally not who they will become.
