2013 Person of the Year Was:

Of these 5, I selected Vladimir Putin. He's made a remarkable comeback and thumbed his nose at was once the strongest nation in the world.

Will Rogers never met Barack Obama. He would not like Obama.

True, but he's still a socialist bastard.

Putin  not that I wanted it so, but he had the greatest impact.

Is there a link?
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I choose Snowden, if I have to choose.

I still can't say for sure whether what he did was right or wrong.

Agreed!
Putin, however, made the largest impact even surpassing the SCoaMF I wish we had someone that was proud to be an American as our President but "we" had to shoot ourselves in the head instead.

I still can't say for sure whether what he did was right or wrong.

He was wrong, hang him by the neck until dead wrong IDP.  I have a very good idea of the kinds of information he stole and took with him first to China and then Russia.  The data aren't just embarrassing to this country but much of it highly damaging.

Some claim that he and Manning are whistleblowers.  They are not, there are channels whistleblowers can utilize to bring oversight scrutiny on the intelligence agencies and neither of these "people" made any attempt to use them.

I make no excuses for my anger, I had a small part in the intelligence community for over 20 years in my previous life with many of the same clearances these two weasels held, trained as a security manager among other things.

Manning should never walk as a free man again and neither should Snowden if we can ever get our hands on his pansy ass.

Shouts of affirmation from the gallery!! ( I once wondered, but when he sought RUSSIA and PUTIN for asylum, it was clear. This is NOT a good man.)

I'm undecided on Snowden.
But, I will disagree with OldSailor about whistleblowers.
Whistleblowers don't do well here. They are persecuted even though they have legal "protections"
And then there's the issue of secrecy in a supposed free society.  I do believe there is a need for classifying information but nowhere to the extent we do.

As far as Snowden going to Russia, he was turned down by 20 something others so it's not like that was his first choice.

Finally, was it good or bad that Snowden revealed the extent of NSA spying on US citizens?
And Fisa courts and everything else that's going on?

I picked Snowden because he blew the whistle the only way the statists left available to him, just witness what the benighted government of the so-called leader-of-the-free-world did to the Benghazi witnesses...he did the only thing a patriot could do.  And there is a big difference between what Snowden did and what Manning did, Manning had no scruples whatsoever and released information that put the lives of people in the field in jeopardy, Snowden did no such thing.  To date I am not aware of any information he has released that specifically identified people in harms way, he disclosed methods...methods incompatible for any nation which pretends to don the mantle leader-of-the-free-world!

Snowden was a traitor, the moment he started spilling the beans to America's enemies.

He's would also be POTY, because his actions will have the most consequences, good or bad, going forward.

Hawk, it could be argued by some that America's biggest enemies are right here

I'll argue that!

How can we possibly deal with the outside world when we are systematically being destroyed from within?

Treason?  The real treason is being rewarded instead of punished!  If the Fedcoats label me a traitor, like Washington and Jefferson and Adams and all the rest before me I will wear that accusation as a badge of honor!!!
