Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a form of depression that affects people based upon the time of year. Many individuals experience SAD during the end of year holidays. Because so much emphasis is placed on family and togetherness this time of year, it can prove to be overwhelming for those away from home or feeling isolated. And when you add post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, loss and grieving into the mix, the results can be catastrophic. At Military Connection, we are privileged to work with some top-notch, highly respected non-profits that diligently work to provide a safety net to the ever-increasing number of people suffering from mental health issues. Give an Hour is dedicated to meeting the mental health needs of the troops and families affected by the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan through direct counseling services, education and training. The Soldiers Project offers free, confidential psychological counseling for Military Servicemembers, Veterans and their loved ones. The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans and their families and friends with qualified VA responders via their toll-free hotline, an online chat, or by text.

To have the opportunity to interact with so many wonderful people on a daily basis, our users, clients, and the many groups we work and partner with throughout the year, make what I do truly enjoyable. As the saying goes, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” For this, I am truly grateful.

Have a safe and happy holiday and New Year.

Best regards,

I hate liberals. Liberalism is a disease that causes severe brain damage after it tries to suck knowledge and history out of yours.

So true. As a youngster after moving 500 mi from home, I was always blessed to have a friend's family adopt me for the holidays. I guess it was my charm and good looks.
