Just found this page on the Dimagi (company issuing the Contact Tracing App) site, with rolling videos explaining and training someone how to use the phone apps. They track patients, their symptoms, contacts, tests, other health conditions, etc., and also who they have had contact with. There is a tutorial for use at airports to screen travelers, and recommend the sick to a local health care center.

Now mind you, these people are not doctors. Why would anyone share this information with a $25/hour screener who’s on college break?

At yesterday’s press briefing (audio below, at about 40:00), KSTP TV’s Tom Hauser reiterated his question regarding the share of all Minnesota deaths attributed to COVID-19 that derive from long-term care facility residents and others with significant underlying medical conditions. When first asked two weeks ago Tom’s question elicited the answer I have continued to state and emphasize in bold: 99.24 percent.

Minnesota Department of Health Infectious Diseases Director Kris Ehresmann fielded Tom’s question yesterday, as she had done before. As before, Ehresmann had the answer ready at hand: 98.8 percent. Of the 499 deaths for which the relevant information is available, 493 had significant underlying medical conditions; six did not. (The authorities await further data on 164 deaths.)

I think this is stunning information that should lead the news. Governor Walz should advertise it at every one of his numerous, televised press briefings. Yet it has not even been offered by the authorities until asked.

What are the significant underlying medical conditions that place one at risk of death from the virus? They are set forth in paragraph 2 of Walz Executive Order 20-55: chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma, serious heart conditions, immunocompromised systems (caused by cancer treatment, smoking, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV or AIDS, or prolonged use of corticosteroids and other immune weakening medications), severe obesity (body mass index of 40 or higher), diabetes, chronic kidney disease requiring dialysis, and liver disease.

This too is critical information. I don’t understand why Walz isn’t blaring it from the rooftops along with the 98.8 percent number and setting us free to live our lives and look out for ourselves.

There is a class divide between those who are hard-line on lockdowns and those who are pushing back. We see the professionals on one side—those James Burnham called the managerial elite, and Michael Lind, in “The New Class War,” calls “the overclass”—and regular people on the other. The overclass are highly educated and exert outsize influence as managers and leaders of important institutions—hospitals, companies, statehouses. The normal people aren’t connected through professional or social lines to power structures, and they have regular jobs—service worker, small-business owner.

Since the pandemic began, the overclass has been in charge—scientists, doctors, political figures, consultants—calling the shots for the average people. But personally they have less skin in the game. The National Institutes of Health scientist won’t lose his livelihood over what’s happened. Neither will the midday anchor.

I’ve called this divide the protected versus the unprotected. There is an aspect of it that is not much discussed but bears on current arguments. How you have experienced life has a lot to do with how you experience the pandemic and its strictures. I think it’s fair to say citizens of red states have been pushing back harder than those of blue states.

According to the CDC (as of 5/16/20) the U.S. has 67,008 COVID-19 deaths with 1,504,830 cases.

That's a 95.6% survival rate.

1,504,830 cases with a 330,000,000 population means it's affected .04% of the population. That's LESS than 1% affected.

Show me a country with the population and area that's come close to that.

Oh, in the time frame we've had those 67k COVID deaths? There were 893,413 total deaths. Which means COVID accounted for 7.5% of the total deaths. So you've got a 10X greater chance of dying from something else.

And for this, they want to trample our Constitution and put people in a panic like it's EBOLA?

And the f*^king libs have trouble with those numbers.
