I've been reading that one conservatives should try Telegraph instead of Signal. Signal is associated with Dark Tech and therefore compromised. I don't know for sure since I don't use any of them.

I don't even know how or why one uses those sort of apps so my ignorance is on full display.

Only been on for a few days, there are many channels, the primary one I read is "We The Media".  I've never had Twitter but my wife had a twitter account (she deleted it a week ago), but she says telegraph is similar. There is some Q and other Mil chatter but lots of conservative view points. That is about all I can say till i am on it more.

Line is pretty universal in Asia and I still have it on my phone from my time there.

ZH posts these alternatives from time to time...their latest -

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/tech-companies-purge-users-here-are-some-alternatives

So far the most attractive ones appear to be Minds (2nd choice Gab) & Telegram...with Brave being the safest browser and Proton mail the best email.

I have no idea about LBRY or Brighteon but a quick look seems to lean towards the latter, will have to devote some time to it and find out.

I downloaded the App - but it appears to me (haven't registered) that it is text based - do the messages come to your phone's text database, or do you read the messages online within the App (like Twitter)?

I'm asking because I do not want a stream of texts coming to my phone.

I thought when I read up on Signal and Telegram that the former needed your phone number but not the latter indicating the latter was probably web/app based, hopefully Ben can confirm.

Thanks. If life wasn't tentative enough I decided to get serious and transition my main web surfing machine to Linux. Initially I chose Ubuntu but after trying (and failing) to set it up the way I require I went with the latest Mint distro. I will add those to my audition list!

Telegram is app based and is very similar to twitter.  There are channels to join and lots of content of all kinds and links within the content for outside applications, ie if there is a link to twitter it takes you there or links to web sites it will take to your web browser to view the info.  videos and images abound.

I read that google could erase telegram from my android phone as I got it from the app store.
They explained how to prevent that but their instructions do not even resemble what I see on my android phone.
I never used it so far.

I have it on my Android phone.  I was putting the last update off because I thought the same, but it did a forced update 2 days ago and I still have Telegram, so maybe not.
