It's not that unusual...

It's not that unusual, rare would be a better term...

Sh!t happens.  Despite protocols for number of tie-down chains per plane for given conditions...errors in equipment, maintenance personnel actions and oversight and slickness of the deck (non-skid can be degraded by any number of things spilled upon it)...all it takes is enough of a jolt to snap a chain or two and if there is a list to the edge the plane is near it can go over...

ZH just goes out of its way to make US Military look bad...I guess the wokeness isn't enough for them...

In the Navy post we learn -

One Sailor received minor injuries while conducting operations during the unexpected heavy weather. The Sailor is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Not clear if the sailor was hurt during the suspension of UnRep activities or they were trying to prevent the loss of the plane.

I was on a cruise where an F-14 hooked to a tow vehicle on the starboard aft elevator awaiting going to the flight deck snapped it's chains (fewer are required if hooked like this) and the plane captain (enlisted maintenance guy in the cockpit during movements) trying to use plane brakes...bails...tow driver trying to use his brakes...bailed...whole enchilada goes overboard!  This elevator was nearest aft hanger deck mezzanine and used during UnRep...so, spilled foodstuffs etc built up and wasn't adequately cleaned...so it became slick.

Sh!t happens...

You just don't want it to happen to you!
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.
