In Senate floor remarks on Wednesday, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) slammed UK PM Keir Starmer for his actions returning the Chagos Islands to Mauritius.

The Chagos Islands are a group of over 60 tropical islands in the Indian Ocean, located about 500 km south of the Maldives. They are part of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) but are also the subject of a sovereignty dispute between the UK and Mauritius.

    Population: The indigenous Chagossians (Ilois) were forcibly removed by the UK in the 1960s and 1970s to make way for the military base.
