Stimulus money well spent!
« on: May 12, 2012, 09:04:22 AM »

Came across this article last night and the first question came to my mind was. Did they get stimulus money?  Answer: YES!  ::outrage::

"Newly-built mansion burns down after owner's two-week old $100,000 electric car catches fire in the garage"

Note also that Fiskar is a Finnish company, so it's stimulus money shipped overseas.

Not sure how that's supposed to "stimulate" anything but ill will ... but what do I know?  I'm just a Neanderthal who thinks electric cars aren't currently practical.

And may never be, on this planet.

Same thing.

The electric cars aren't even close to being ready. I'm hoping they will be, though. Electric motors have some SERIOUS torque!! ::whoohoo::

On a side note, it doesn't look like a mansion, at least using Texas standards....

Not to mention, how "green" is it to ship them across the Atlantic Ocean?  How "green" is it for the ChiComs to extract the heavy metals and rare earth elements used in the battery construction? And then ship them to Finland for assembly?

This is nothing less than criminal, using the state as a thief-by-proxy. Everyone seems to believe those things that are wrong if done directly to another person magically become ethical if you elect someone else to do it on your behalf.

It's not a porte cochere but a garage.  Big double garage doors in the front
of a home is a historic feature of wealth and taste.  Note the telephone pole
in the background.

The example I like to use is this:

When you're a kid, and your mom gives you money for a treat, that's sharing.  When she gives you money so you and your buddy can both have a treat, that's also sharing.

But when you sneak into mama's purse and take money without asking, that's stealing.

When you get older, and hang out with the neighborhood thugs, and you go to mom's and demand money for you and your friends, that's also stealing.

But when you gang up with a million or more people and call yourself a Democrat, then it becomes taxation, and "sharing the wealth."
