I recently talked to an old GF. Her 60 something husband recently died mostly from stubbornness. He was obese and a not yet insulin using diabetic. On a Tuesday he felt sick. Maybe a day later he had a 103 deg F fever. His wife and kids wanted him to see a doctor and later to call 911 but he said he would refuse transport. On Sunday he fell out of bed and could not get up. 911 was called. He died from sepsis in the hospital after a week on intense work to save him. .

Well, at a certain point stubbornness yields to outright stupidity...

Knowing a problem and ignoring it is not a good decision...

Didn't have sepsis til he went in the hospital?

He likely had sepsis at home. He had some kind of infection and high fever. I had his wife tell me the long version but do not remember all the details.
He took Ozempic via injection after a shower (as usual) but refused to use an alcohol swap over his wife's objections. He apparently also had some open wounds of some kind?

He reported some pain in his lower back on both sides of his spine (where your kidneys are) while at home.

My father died of sepsis He had his knee replaced at 70 while in poor health after signing several wavers. There was an infection and he went to hospital. From sepsis diagnosis to death was maybe 6 hours?

I do not go to the doctor for little things. My gall bladder died in a hurry with no warnings. I went to the ER. After the removal I checked in with my MD who found an infection through blood work and gave me antibiotics. After the antibiotics were used up I got a 103 deg F fever and took an uber to the ER. They had infected my liver.

They put in a central line (?) and I had IV antibiotics as outpatient for 2 weeks.

update: I think he had an infection at home. Not sure about when sepsis set in.
