So I'm watching "Beverly Hills Cop" tonight and the opening sequence is illustrative of Detroit's unique situation. Here is a video of the opening credits, a virtual travelogue of Detroit...
And then this scene offers a few more attractive scenes of picturesque Detroit:
Remember, now, as sh*tty as Detroit looked when this movie was made...1984...yep, coming up on thirty years...it has actually gotten staggeringly worse since then. So bad, in fact, that large swathes of the "city" have been returned to farm land or something.
So Detroit is
defaulting on it's debts and obligations. Next stop on the road to Democrat nirvana is bankruptcy which I am just about certain will happen before this year is out. Bankruptcy is a natural, a given, an economic certainty in a town that hasn't elected or appointed a Republican to an office of any kind since somewhere in the 1950's.
Getting back to "Beverly Hills Cop" to sort of square this particular circle, the bulk of the movie is made in, duh, Los Angeles which started its own similar trip into the toilet within a year or two of this movie being released. Of course, it's worse than that since the entire state is basically screwed for the exact same reason: All Democrats, all the time.
Good times, good times.
This is your city and/or state in another decade or two, Raptavio. Cheers.
