Collapsed?

I get the Baltics confused but some sided with Germans. If Romans, the Russians would have plowed salt in the soil and killed or enslaves most and hauled them away.
Homicide rates for Baltics as a whole. 1985 5.99 per 100,000;  14.16 1995, recovered by 2010

50 pct often  lacking food 1993.
Pct income to top 1 pct 4.7 1985, 13.47 2005.
From map, it looks like drop in GDP per capitia in baltics is in top 10 pct

I recall the Baltics lost maybe 25 pct of pop after 1990. May have been in bottom (worse)   10 pct for net migration.

Baltics Pct death rate increase since 1989 around 37 pct.

Pct change in life expectancy at birth 1989 to min.

I found  graph but cannot link. has all 3 Baltics.
Lith pop peaked in 1990 at 3.7 M now 2.8 M, Latvia 2.7 to 1.9, Est 1.6 to 1.3.

Baltics sucked at around 5 pct but not as bad as RU at at 6.8 or Ukr at 5.2. The rest of former USSR did much better than that. Most less than 1 pct by far. Table 6.2 taking stock of shock.

After USSR fell many plants were looted, often sold for scrap by local officials.

I recently read that some Baltic asked for exception from sanctions to buy train or tram parts from RU. They used to be the main supplier to  USSR thanks to a huge factory. After 1990 plants were privatized and no longer exist.

There is a whole series of posts to this.
What is the upside to this?
I do not care if it a church, temple, mosque.
I am not a Muslin, Sikh, Jew, Buddhist, etc but I would not mess with their holy stuff.

There is something vile about this Banderite sect.

Ukraine keeps destroying churches, cowardly at night so nobody can protest!

In Kyiv, the chapel of the Desyatinny Monastery of the canonical UOC was completely demolished.

Orthodox believers began to come to the demolition site in the morning.

The Vladimir-Olginskaya Chapel near the site of the Desyatinny Church in Kyiv was cordoned off by police and military personnel in the evening.

At night they dismantled the church quickly and construction workers carried out the rubble of the shrine in dump trucks.

...
In the center of Kyiv, the Tithe Church is being demolished. In the area where the demolition work is being carried out, the Internet and communications have been jammed.

In fact, a military operation is underway.

Residents of the city remember the Gospel of Luke: “For now is your time and the power of darkness”

Nothing really new just another location. The locals want to wait for the Russians to liberate them not be evacuated by Kiev faction.
When I watched more social media post I saw posts from the civilians after the Kiev faction left. They did a lot of damage on the way out.
They shelled lots of civilian buildings and even churches out of spite.

An OK explanation. Seems to be breach  of contract and return of some monies from a guarantor.
https://t.me/EurasianChoice/38119

The Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region seized the property, accounts and securities of the German Deutsche Bank — reports TASS (https://tass.ru/ekonomika/20837629) May 18. Thus, the application of the regional «Russhimalliance»'s» for interim measures in his claim against Deutsche Bank was satisfied.

The Russian company was created specifically for the construction of a gas processing plant and an enterprise for the production of liquefied gas in Ust-Luga. This is a joint project of «Gazprom» and «RusGasExtraction».

«Russhimalliance»'s claims against Deutsche Bank are related to the termination of the contract with the German company Linde, which before the outbreak of hostilities in 2022 had the status of a contractor for the design and construction of the plant, and also received an advance of 1.1 billion euros. Linde subsequently terminated the agreement unilaterally. Deutsche Bank acted as a guarantor in the deal between «Russhimalliance» and Linde, so financial claims were also made against it. However, the bank could not voluntarily pay the money to the Russian company, since this would be a violation of pan-European sanctions against Russia.

Deutsche Bank announced a possible future confiscation of its assets in Russia as early as October 2023 — immediately after «Ruskhimaliance» filed a lawsuit against it. To prepare for this, the bank was still then created a reserve at 258 million euros.

Currently, securities of Deutsche Bank, LLC «Deutsche Bank» and LLC «Technology Center Deutsche Bank», real estate and cash in bank accounts have been seized totalling 238.61 million euros..

Three EU nations persecuting Russian speakers — Moscow

The Baltic states have been displaying “extreme Russophobia,” harassing even Russian-speaking children, a senior diplomat says.

“Today, our diplomatic missions in the Baltic states operate in extremely difficult, effectively siege conditions,” the diplomat explained.

The Russian missions there have been repeatedly vandalized, with russophobic pickets held outside the facilities on an almost daily basis and employees attacked on several occasions. The hostile activities have been going on with the “connivance of local authorities” and no real action to stop them has been taken, Belyayev added.

Russian nationals and even locals who are speakers of Russian have been increasingly persecuted in the three Baltic states, under the “far-fetched pretext of being a threat to national security,” the diplomat said.

As for Kharkiv/Kharkov...

BBC published a report over the weekend about how “The Russians simply walked in, Ukrainian troops in Kharkiv tell BBC”, citing special reconnaissance commander Denis Yaroslavsky.

According to him, “There was no first line of defence. We saw it. The Russians just walked in. They just walked in, without any mined fields. Either it was an act of negligence, or corruption. It wasn’t a failure. It was a betrayal.”

And with Russia joining the sanctions game, ironically since I thought they were pointless...but now FJB is putting the screws on the Germans to get serious with sanctions on Russia...

I get the feeling that seizing RU assets will backfire on US. Plenty of countries have assets in US and might want to reduce exposure.

??RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan to publish Ukraine's 'unwanted' POWs list

"I have complete lists of 500 Ukrainian prisoners of war, whom Kiev has been refusing to exchange for four months now. Zelensky has selected 38 people - Azov people and others - and is ready to take only them. Ukraine does not need the rest of the Ukrainian soldiers," Simonyan posted on her Telegram channel.

"The lists include full name and dates of birth. I'll publish it in full this evening. I think it will be interesting for wives, mothers and Ukrainian citizens in general to read it."

She should STFU and stop making RU propaganda for them.
She says RU defeat would not be a bad thing because RU could be broken up into smaller nations.

Not a POW video. Some guy IDs the 3 soldiers he was dropped off with in a trench  3 days ago after being grabbed. 3 dead. Him still alive.
He IDs them so their names will be known

Other polls say very few Ukr want to return after the the war.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad/98272

Only 56% of Ukrainians living in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic are interested in events and the situation in Ukraine - KIIS survey

According to the study, 34% of Ukrainians directly indicated that they are not at all interested in information about Ukraine, and 11% chose the “difficult to answer” option.

Sociologists have come to the conclusion that Ukrainian refugees are gradually losing contact with Ukraine. The survey also indicates that half of the refugees refuse to return to Ukraine.
