Well we should remove all the Stars & Stripes too.  For much of American slavery, the biggest port of entry for slaves was in Rhode Island.  The only thing that kept New England from becoming major slave states was the fact that those places are ill suited for plantation agriculture.  They still had slavery though.  There are slave cemeteries in New York.

Likewise there were many places in the Confederate South that did not practice slavery.  Most of the upland Appalachian region of the South had no slavery for the same reason the North didn't.  The climate and terrain were not conducive to plantation agriculture.  The huge majority of Confederate soldiers were not from slave holding families.

Since the end of the Civil War the Confederate battle flag has become a multipurpose symbol for defiance of authority.  If they wanted to take that power away from it, they've done exactly the wrong thing.  It's now even more a symbol of defiance.

There were slaves sold in most major ports IIRC like Philadelphia.

And yeah, the sure way to make something more powerful than it had otherwise been is to make it illegal...

I've proposed banning ALL cotton garments...and even the cotton that comes in vitamin bottles, as it is & continues to be a painful, painful reminder of our dark-skinned brethren who toiled & sweat in the fields.

Kiwi black shoe polish, too...

Now it's the fleur de lis in Louisiana.  You see, it's an unacceptable symbol to have displayed all over Louisiana because it was used as a branding mark on escaped slaves.  It's going to be something new each and every day now.  The momentum is going to keep picking up speed until we all decide to stop it.

Bedwetter in Connecticut calls 911 because a vendor at a flea market had war memorabilia with Confederate and Nazi symbols:  http://www.theamericanmirror.com/offended-flea-market-shopper-calls-911-over-confederate-merchandise/

I heard about this gaytarded event.

My first thought was of baby seals...and clubs...

Then this morning I run across this article about people not taking this BS and I see the opportunity here to once and for all end the tyranny of the Progs, we can no longer allow them to dictate at their whim how we are to live, think and act.

Quotes like this from my link are awesome:

"That flag has a lot of different meanings to a lot of different people," said David Stone, 38, who organized the event. "It doesn't symbolize hate unless you think it's hate - and that's your problem, not mine.”

Indeed.  We should all be excoriating anybody who dares to mischaracterize words, thoughts, ideas or objects that symbolize them.  This country was Founded by people who knew it was a violation against our God-given and fundamental rights to tell people what to think, what to do and how to live.  Our Founders took up arms and killed those who would oppress them.  So these whinny little spoiled sh*ts better remember that or they will learn it the hard way.

"A backlash is beginning," said Ben Jones, a spokesman for the Sons of Confederate Veterans, which represents 30,000 descendants of Confederate soldiers. "We are putting flags out. Everyone time one is taken down, we put five or six of them up."

 ::whoohoo::

This is exactly what we need more of.  Get online, order up every flag you can get your hands on, and stick 'em everywhere!

Overwhelm their pathetic micro-aggression inventing asses!  I want to see real tears, puke and blood...real agony!  Only then will we know we are doing it right.

Oh, and point of inquiry...

If it is OK to vandalize a statue of Robert E Lee, is it not also OK to vandalize a statue of (insert name of favorite Prog here)?

Just curious...

Crap.

I hate capitulation, especially to cowardly turd-brained Progs!

I would have preferred "Molan Labe!" and standing 24/7 armed watch over my business...

They've given us a gift.  This is an instance where the cultural rift has crystallized into something tangible, something people can identify and rally around, and people are doing it all over the country.  You can't find any Confederate flags online right now, everybody is sold out.

It's important to have tangible things.  So much of the Culture War comes down to this inchoate sense that things are badly wrong, but without concrete manifestations it's so easy for people to feel like lone voices in the wilderness.  So thank you, progs.  You've re-energized that flag as a symbol of defiance and now people can see there are like minded all over the land.

It's a symbol of rebellion against people who refuse to live and let live, and it's no longer just a Southern thing.  If our banner should become the all-purpose symbol for "GFYS!" then so be it.  We offer it to people everywhere who are sick of being cajoled and shamed.
