While it has trillions of dollars in mining, gas and oil..
Easy, same as the general strategy of the West in the Global South, use NGOs (climate change, diversity, human rights, animal protections) to completely block any developments.
Those NGOs are mainly financed by the US, blackjack and other Wall Street vultures.
This way the US can better control and influence the 50'000 people in Greenland by giving freebies through USAID to manipulate civil society, education.
The idea for the US is to >
- push for independence
- once independent either strike a multi-billion dollar deal or by force if necessary. Basically pay thousand times less than what Greenland is worth.
If people from Greenland were able to tap into their resources they would be by far the richest nation per capita on earth. Instead they are living out of social welfare, the same as native Indians were treated by the colonisers in the USA, give them survival money and alcohol and turn a proud nation into parasite, zombified nation.
US leadership doesn't care about Greenland, it only sees trillions dollars of reserves, huge real estate asset and strategic land on the artic route.
