FAIL!

FM radio aired the "tone" and the announcement - 20 seconds.

Satellite had 5 seconds of "tone - no announcement.

Fox News interrupted with neither "tone" nor announcement.

Good.

FAIL!!

Eastern.
Nothing happened on iheartradio here on the Phoenix talk radio station.
Local tv station had standard announcement but audio was horrid and impossible to understand.  rolling statement on top said an emergency was being announced for the district of Columbia, bottom of the screen said there was no emergency.  lasted 30 secs.

Yeah, we were  sitting here & wondering if maybe we blinked and missed it!

The local tv station scrolled an announcement at 12:59 that it would occur in 15 min!

Another fine example of your government at work.

Bwahah.  And it might, there.  Still FAIL; was supposed to be simultaneous, nationwide.

This FAIL actually gives me hope.

Noted no disruption in e-mail (had three different connections going), no cell or landline disruption, no internet disruption amd not all radio stations had the EAS of the several I scanned...one even announced it may not be received by some broadcast stations!

Here's hoping the ineptitude continues, but I got a bad feeling the prog's will use this as a means to suck more money out of us for needed upgrades!

Shoot, I missed it. Completely forgot.

Apparently it didn''t affect the Internet.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Some stations I heard just the tones, others dead silence, didn't hear a voice message on the few I scanned...total FAIL!

I have 5 TV's in my business.....All I saw was the stupid screen. Mobile.....no effect......Internet....no effect. Radio, the stupid sound lasted longer than the stupid pic on the tv.

Mine, too.  Although I usually save it for when a plan actually comes together.

It may not be that long in the future for a truly integrated nationwide alert system. FEMA is working on an Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) that will employ all communication devices. Until then, though, if you want to be warned, tune into the television at 2 p.m.

Yah.  They came alrighty.  And they FAILED!  I don't expect they won't compensate and improve, but for now ... they FAILED!

And with no proof whatsoever, based on pure speculation, I can't say they didn't have assistance in their FAIL!  Patriots still exist in obscure places.

I'm not sure why we need it anyway. Hell, if Lindsay Lohan breaks a nail its tweeted, facebooked, texted, my spaced, e mailed and a few other social outlets I'm not aware.

If something bad actually occured, don't you think we would know??????? Quickly??????

I believe we DON'T need it; there have been no issues with a failure by radio or TV to quickly disseminate matters of national import to date.  This system will be used to tell us only what "they" want us to know, and there do exist all the alternative communication avenues you mention as well.
