Prius Prick
« on: April 28, 2012, 04:08:42 PM »
I encountered this today, and couldn't not take a picture and post on the Internet. It encapsulates so much about the liberal mindset, namely their insufferable narcissism and need to impose themselves on everyone else. It's just like when you see a car plastered in bumper stickers, they're always left wing sentiments because only leftists engage in projection to such an extent. The ability to impose on everyone else is their animating characteristic.

So here we see a Prius taking up not two, not three, but four parking spaces. I can tolerate people who do this at the very back of the parking lot, because they have still chosen to show some respect for others by putting their car where no one else was going to park anyway. But this one was right in the main parking area. Me and pop knew with certainty we'd be able to spot its owner in the store, and sure enough a granola treehugger wench was in there. There could be little doubt that it belonged to anyone else.

Note I have done them the small courtesy of obscuring their license plate number.

Thank you for taking that picture.  I'm sharing that if you don't mind.  That pretty much says it all.

Can't wait to see it. The simplemachines forum won't render pics on my blackberry.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I do park way the hell back in the lot, away from everybody else, and in ONE spot only.  Inevitably, however, some .... person .... feels the need to park right.next.to.me.  Next spot.  Not one over, right next.  And whoever does it, makes sure he crowds my vehicle a little bit while he's at it.  I think there are people who brag of making a practice of doing such things, just to aggravate other folks.

It happened today, a little differently.  We went to a classic car show, hosted by the local high school, at a vacant car lot.  Be-vested men were directing parking, and I pulled in where one indicated.  By the time we were ready to leave, they had quit doing that as they were many empty spaces, BUT DON'T YOU KNOW, as we approached the truck to leave, some guy had just pulled his truck next to mine.  Lotsa space all around, he's gotta crowd my passenger side door.

As for Missus Prius, I only hope some big, honking SUV parked right smack next to her.

If one were to confront said owner the rationale I would expect to hear is "It's not my fault - it was all the other other people parking wrong and leaving me no other choice"

Personally I would have liked to find three other friends and bookcased the car, leaving a generous 3/4" on either side

I would have parked right next to it...with my passenger door about ten inches from their driver's side door.

But that's just me.

When I was high school age there was an idiot at my job who would park that way. It irritated the heck out of some of the other employees. So about eight of them got together and picked it up and moved it between two immovable objects...it's been a long time and I don't remember exactly what they were...maybe a fire hydrant and something else. When the annoying employee went to leave at the end of the day they were totally screwed...had to hire a tow truck to get it out of the tight spot. She never parked that way again.

What is that all about?  I've had that happen a number of times.  It's been moms or an old couple, etc.  There will be numerous spots open and they get right next to me.

A couple of summers ago my daughter was in a morning camp and I hung out at the park area nearby since it was a bit far to go home and then come back.  There must have been 200 picnic tables spread out over the area. I'd taken some paperwork that would take up about the entire 3 hours I'd be waiting.  I picked a picnic table and started working.  The entire time I was there only two families came to use the picnic tables.  They both sat at the table right next to me.  The first family of 5 kids apparently had never been let outside before.  I kept thinking can't they see I'm working here? Why would they want to be next to someone who's obviously working?  Finally, finally they packed up and left.  Wouldn't you know 15 minutes later grandma and grandpa step up shop at the exact same table with their precious three?  There are over 200 tables all over the place. I kept wondering do I look that friendly???

::rolllaughing:: I seem to evoke the exact opposite reaction. Today I was at a very small water park for toddlers. My three year old was running through the sprinklers etc and I was nearby sitting at a picnic table in the shade. There are only 6 picnic tables at this place and some people had to resort to standing while their kids played. Anyway, this lady siting at an adjacent table couldn't stand me I guess because as soon as she had a chance at an open table she grabbed her kid and dashed for it.

I must be scary or something.  :o

Be-vested simply means 'wearing a vest' like bespectacled simply means, 'wearing glasses'. :)
