.... 6-foot-6-inch, 220-pound Gabrielle Ludwig... joined the Lady Saints as a mid-season walk-on and became, according to advocates, the first transsexual to play college hoops as both a man and a woman.

"I got exactly what I always wanted, just to fit in and be normal like everyone else," Ludwig said.

Teammate Amy Woo, 19, said Ludwig has brought a maternal influence, helping the team keep problems in perspective.

Heard this on the podcast of Rush's show after work today. Not only is she (sic) a mutant, but she (sic) is also 50 years old!  So, a 50 year old man undergoes surgical mutilation of his genitalia, takes artificial hormones, and joins the roster of a college's women's basketball team where he is lauded for his maternal influence.

Yeah. We absolutely do need that new category.

I heard Rush talking about it the other day, and offhandedly wondered if the he/she had undergone an addadicktomy.

I think he had it backwards though. It would be a plain ol' dickectomy, no play on words.

ETA: You guys serious about a new category? I can sure do it, but I try to make it categories only for those things that are related to a specific and recurrent subject. Teh Gayz are a recurrent subject, but most often fit into politics, media, judiciary, and general when not one of those. The culture wars, same thing - the subjects of culture war discussions almost always fit into another category, and we have the general category for when they don't.

If someone can give me a more specific idea of what a new category might look like, I will certainly and gladly take it under consideration.

Things like the culture wars can cross multiple categories, I try to place my posts in the category it most directly apples to, in this case it seems to me this story is a better fit in the Faith & Family section since that is its number one target - destroying the moral foundation of the traditional family unit.  They use crap like this creature to define down what sexuality is and what social norms are meant to be.

I was when I suggested it, i.e. "this is whatthehell is wrong with our country" but, in thinking about it, this whole forum is dedicated to chronicling whatthehell is wrong with our country, so .... nevermind.  We'll put the stuff where it best it fits.
